OIP-12: DAO Team Compensation
Iām all for it but I just wanna know where is the 30k dai per week budget coming from? Paid for by the treasury? Also if for instance there is a slow week, does 30k dai still get paid? Iām voting thumbs up because I realize how much work is getting done behind the scenes. Ty for clarifications.
Thanks for the question. Yes, 30k comes from the treasury. For the time being there is no slow week expected, in terms for team allocation/growth of resources. For the contrary we are receiving new projects from the community that needs to be addressed. If for any reason we find ourselves in a slow week mode, then we should revisit the 30k.
All for Compensation for the DAO as some community members have provided incredible value to the project already and I expect this trend to continue.
Just a few points to explore:
- Have vested rewards been explored? Or all reward would be made available every week?
- Who will be responsible to manage the funds/redistribution ? Wartull ?
- Have we explored hiring more people full time?
1 - I agree with Balo that vested rewards would be a great way to keep DAO members and the protocol aligned for the long term, just like initial investors and team members
2 - What do we think of making the budget evolve with the protocol, for example being scaled relative to our total mcap ? 30,000 usd at 100M mcap, maybe 45,000 at 200M ? Pulling numbers out of nowhere as an illustration of scaling the DAO relative to the growth of the protocol. Question is: Should we propose a plan that takes our growth into account or do we prefer to have regular checkpoints where we come back and vote on a fixed updated budget regularly ?
balotelli45 Thanks for you comments. No we have not explored vested rewards, but I think makes sense to look at. At this point, we are looking to start with the every day availability.
Right now is Wartul, Unbanksy, Zeus or myself. But this will evolve into part of the multisign wallets.
We have not explored full time hiring, but could be a route to look into. Right now I think current team is doing great.
balotelli45 I also like the idea of vested rewards because this will align incentive with the protocol. On the other hand what about people that want to put in the time but also need the compensation to make a living. If all the rewards are vested we will miss out on potential talent. People that currently don't have the means to sustain themselves without a constant income. Maybe something like part vested and part liquid could help in this case.
I'm all for incentivized contributions to the DAO for long-term sustainable growth.
I agree that we could also consider the amount of DAI to be allocated for this so that we can ensure the longevity and success of the DAO. Maybe that will also need to be considered, vetted and eventually voted on.
Re: Vesting Rewards - It would be interesting if there was a way to distribute locked OHM (maybe 12 months locked?). This would be a natural use case of the locking mechanism and accomplish pseudo-vesting. This would also allow any DAO members in need of funding to access those funds and forego staking rewards (which would be redistributed to 3,3 Ohmies). The only roadblock here is OIP-9 seems to indicate that vlOHM is non-transferrable.

I thought we could start making the DAO funds productive. Though the math does not fully check out to cover all remunerations right now. Regardless we could maybe start digging into this topic somehow.
Apollo_ the success of the project is mainly due to the great community and, specially, thanks to the DAO. I fully support this initiative!
Can a portion of the ohm distributed be on a vesting schedule.
Hi Lebanese. I think it makes sense. Other community members suggested the same thing. We will consider for the final comp structure. Thanks!
I like the approach and sounds like a reasonable approach to fair compensation!
Apollo_ How many team members are there that the 30K is being split amongst?
I agree those individuals should be compensated for their hard work building further community strength. Out of curiosity how would one collaborate in the DAO's current projects?
We've got an incredible group of talented individuals within the DAO, and I whole-heartedly support this proposal.
RelayFletch We have a DAO Discord dedicated for this: https://discord.com/invite/42xFV68uEf
Thanks man! Keen to be a part of the community!
