Iceman I think waiting for one to win will take years and be a lot of opportunity cost. Also I think its likely different chains will find their niches as being good at different things, and ultimately they will all be linked seamlessly anyway. Bridges are improving rapidly, and then you have projects like Sifchain that are linking them all together. Its still WIP but you can trade assets seamlessly across multiple chains there already, at low cost and near instant speeds.
Multichain is absolutely the future, many of them are already EVM compatible, the speed and costs kick Ethereums ass. The only question is spreading the liquidity but going cross chain does give OHM access to many new users, so ultimately the cake gets bigger.
My peanut brain sketch of how I see this working - start with relatively low liquidity, let the price pump, run cross chain arbs to profit and transfer OHM to the new chains, sell bonds to increase liquidity. I may well be missing *things*, lmk
