Summary: KlimaDAO is about to launch a Love Letter to the Planet campaign, and we want to invite you to be a part of it.  This campaign publicizes the launch of the Klima retirement aggregator which allows individuals and organizations to offset their carbon footprint on the Polygon network.

Background: KlimaDAO utilizes Polygon’s blockchain network to enable holders to offset their carbon footprint in a permissionless, cost-effective, and transparent way— addressing major concerns in the traditional carbon markets. 

In addition, when holders retire carbon credits through our retirement aggregator, users can attach a message that is registered and permanently viewable within the Polygon meta-registry. Here’s the Love Letter campaign landing page: https://loveletter.klimadao.finance/

This year’s Earth Hour takes place on March 26, at 8:30pm - 9:30pm. During Earth Hour, 8:30pm UTC+0, we invite all our partners to launch a coordinated effort to use our application to retire their carbon emissions while sending love letters to our planet to instill hope and change for us and our progeny. Through this campaign, we hope to drive social momentum to inspire both individuals and companies to do their part in safeguarding the future of our planet. This is a great opportunity for comarketing as we want to amplify the brands of those who participate on our landing page and campaign marketing efforts. The more that participate, the more our campaign will resonate.

At this time of writing OlympusDAO holds 145k KLIMA which is approximately valued at $2.5M. Additionally, Olympus holds over 69M pKLIMA tokens. KlimaDAO and OlympusDAO have had a strong partnership since the beginning of the protocol and this would help to continue that collaboration. Additionally, OlympusDAO will also be able to demonstrate that through this action it has offset its emissions and therefore its impact on the environment to date. According to https://carbon.dovu.market/ Olympus has a current emissions rate of 1,893 Tons.

Proposal: OlympusDAO to become an official partner of Klima Infinity and to offset 33,333.33 or 3,333.33 tonnes of carbon via the KlimaDAO retirement aggregator. Depending on the carbon asset (BCT vs MCO2) Olympus would need to retire 5186 or 509 respectively of KLIMA to offset based on BCT retirement. This would be 3.5% or 0.34% of the current staked amount in Olympus’ treasury which is approximately 147k KLIMA.

    I am support of this RFC - Olympus contributes to the environmental impact of Ethereum blockchain usage and should offset that by retiring some credits via the retirement aggregator.

    It is a small price to pay to show the world we are conscious of our carbon footprint.

    Plus, thanks to new Treasury Management initiatives our Klima is staked which means we will make those funds back in a matter of epochs.

      Archimedes As a large tokenholder it is in our interest to participate in this initiative as a market signal and to demonstrate its viability.

      I assume there are large amount of ppl in the community who are skeptical of global warming models - as is rational given they have consistently overstated the impact of C02 emissions on the environment. On the other hand, a large amount of the Olympus community and woke capital (Blackrock etc) is emotionally and financially invested in reducing CO2 emissions.

      TLDR: Supporting the 3,333 option is good for your OHM bags - regardless of your opinions on the global warming issue.

          100% in support! At the very least, this is a great, basically no-cost marketing opportunity. I say go the full distance and retire 33,333.33 tonnes in MCO2 equivalent KLIMA. Would also be nice to see how far negative we'll go with this against our carbon footprint (i'm assuming definitely negative).

          As both a KLIMA and OHM token holder who has worked passionately in both DAOs, I strongly support this for many, many reasons. Let's continue to be leaders in this field, by making climate positivity a baseline standard for protocols, NFTs, and all-things crypto-related by showing how simple and impactful it can be to do.

          I wanted to point out for clarification purposes that 1,893 carbon tons (US ton) is equivalent to 1,717 tonnes (metric ton) and this can be confusing for the uninformed. KlimaDAO has used consistently used the metric ton (tonne) verbiage, and is reflected in this way in all their protocol metrics.
