  • OIP-178 - Olympus FY25 Liquidity and Incentivization Budget

Summary:

As Olympus continues its growth into FY25, we would like the support of the community to define and execute on a global incentive budget which will be used against our liquidity strategies. While part of this budget was defined in OIP-176, this OIP seeks to expand scope to include other liquidity verticals and define a comprehensive amount to work under.

Proposal:

Create a discrete FY25 budget for Liquidity Incentivization, with a not to exceed amount of 2,000,000 OHM. The main goal of this is to flywheel incentives of iBGT, into more incentives, into more iBGT. This budget will also include a co-incentive program that we will be launching with a few trusted partners who are willing to match (More details on this soon).

These incentives will be largely split into two main groupings:

  • Base Pairs like OHM/HONEY which the Protocol can capture value on and reinvest
  • Utility Pairs which will generate volume, activity, participation and more general usage. These are treated as more of a sunk cost with more long tail ecosystem effects

The first of these incentives will be targeted at the following:

OHM/HONEY - Live on Beradrome - Incentives distributed in line with OIP-176
OHM/BERA - New - Sweetened Island on Kodiak - Will receive direct OHM and KDK rewards.

Since timing is critical, we plan to use some of the remainder of the FY24 Budget (If we you recall, we were under budget) to cover the first week of incentives to OHM/BERA. Then, following weeks will draw from this budget once approved.

The last ask is support for scaling the OHM/HONEY Kodiak Island up to a cap of 2,000,000 OHM (Actuals will be lower and market dependent.) This will largely be OHM side liquidity and will be sufficiently large to support the BGT flywheel we wish to create.

To be clear, this 2,000,000 OHM ask is a budgetary number and we expect the net spend to be under this. With incentive markets, portions of the spend are returned as a function of voting power and participation of POL. That said, we ask the community for flexibility and some leeway on tactical efforts, empowering us to make the best executions possible. Often these efforts are time sensitive and competitive so, we would like support in our ask for agility.
