When you are faced with a decision that must be made between three different possibilities, this is known as a trilemma.
The blockchain's Trilemma can be broken down into these three variables.
SECURITY
SCALABILITY \sDECENTRALIZATION
The blockchain Trilemma refers to the challenge of developing a blockchain technology that simultaneously provides scalability, decentralization, and security without sacrificing any of these properties. The founder of Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin, is credited with the creation of the term "Scalability Trilemma," which is more commonly connected with the issue of scalability. According to Vitalik, on a fundamental level, Blockchains can only simultaneously attain a total of two out of these three characteristics at any given time. Sharding was the solution that Vitalik offered to use in order to circumvent the trilemma. There are numerous solutions that are either still in the process of being developed or that are presently available on the market that seek to solve the scalability challenge. As of right present, blockchain technology is having trouble locating the optimal solution to the trilemma.
